| This festival falls on the fifth day of the
bright fortnight of Magha(January-February) and is dedicated to
the worship of Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and learning.
The celebration includes dances and the singing of bhajans (devotional
songs of love) in honor of the goddess .Because Saraswati reigns
over education ,Vasant Panchami is specially observed by teachers
and students. Special celebrations are held in schools by children,
who worship and offer flowers to the goddess. |
