Pushkar
Mela (Mela means fair) is an annual festival celebrated at
Pushkar, in Rajasthan, about a week before the full moon in
the beginning of November. Pushkar, a holy town on one side
of a lake in Rajasthan, is the location of the famous temple
in India dedicated to worship |
of
Lord Brahma,
the first member of the Hindu Trinity.
Thousands of people throughout Rajasthan and other parts of India,
including holy men, travel to Pushkar to bathe in the lake on
the day of the festival. Bathing in the lake during the festival
is believed to be very auspicious for demolishing sins.
